LET IT BEGIN WITH ME  was first launched in 2005. We started as a group of friends that just could not sit, and watch the horror unfolding  on the news about  Katrina, and the thousands upon thousands of our fellow Americans suffering and  even being left to die. So we pooled our resources ,stood out along the road by  our neighborhood grocery store, and collected donations of money,water,food,clothing,and pretty much anything one could imagine.We rented five vans and ten volunteers took off...  headed for Gulf port,Miss.
We rescued thirteen people and there pets, and brought them back to Roanoke ,Va. and helped them all get back on there feet , with the help of our community we found them all homes and jobs,medical care  etc.
From that day forward we have never looked back.
We find that disasters come in all shapes and sizes and LET IT BEGIN WITH ME works with all types of organizations to assist those in need  suffering from all forms of disasters !

LET IT BEGIN WITH ME  is a 501-c3 tax exempt not for profit organization. We currently are headquartered in Roanoke,VA. Our organization does however work to assist in times of disasters where ever they may occur in the United States. We have already helped people in times of need in over a half dozen States. We have done a great deal of hands on work through both volunteerism ,and a paid staff. We have found though that there are just so many different types of disasters, and we consider that each and every person may see certain individual disasters within there own lives that may only affect them and there family. We realize that most disaster organizations only focus on large scale events that effect many people at a time. LET IT BEGIN WITH ME  however sees each person as an individual and respond to both small and large disasters.
In order to do that we collect donations thru a variety of venues and distribute the funds to many different local, and National organization, for them to distribute the funds as they are needed. Therefor when you donate to us you are donating to many different organizations that help people in a variety of different ways. You may request which organisation your donation will go to ,or we can do the donating for you, as different needs within our many groups arise. Life is a journey, and we all travel many roads,sometimes we feel that we are all alone in this world, but through our work and the devoted work of thousands of volunteers around the Globe we can ease the suffering and travel down that lonely highway with you. Putting back the pieces and rebuilding lives one mile at a time.
