LET IT BEGIN WITH ME as with any organization dealing with disasters must keep up with current news and events. We must be able to mobilize very quickly to assist people as soon as the disastrous event occurs. We often have little or no time for planning, therefore we are always working on projects,with both new and old ideas to ensure that we have available resources as needed .You can check this page to keep up with the news, see what current events and projects that we have going on, and look to our future events.
We are always working within our community to enrich the lives of all our neighbor's regardless of social and economic stature.We receive donations from our local Target Department Store and each week we pick up a variety of items ranging from shampoos,soaps of all kinds,diapers,over the counter medicines,children's toys,etc. We sort through these items and take them to the women's homeless shelter and also to the men's rescue mission.We also gather things together for families that lost everything due to a home fire.
We are currently working on putting together a "Children's Fun Day" a day in the park for the homeless children in Roanoke Va. We want to bring public awareness to the Roanoke Valleys increasing homeless population, and how many children are living on the streets, and at the Shelter. We are hoping to engage as many as possible local organisations that work with the community, orgs. like Big Brothers and Sisters,our local Y.W.C.A. Foster care programs. Education and development programs to help the parents which are usually single mothers how to improve there lifestyles and that of there children. These people are our future these families need our help.With the cost of higher education sky rocketing and the lack of jobs available many families are finding it harder and harder to keep up with the cost of living in America.
